The main aim of a Structural Engineer is to design structures like buildings, bridges, tunnels, and pipelines to ensure they are safe and will withstand any elements they are exposed to. The work they carry out is often split between the office and on construction sites. The sizes of projects worked on can vary from residential to commercial.

How much do Civil Structural Engineers get paid ?

According to payscale.com, the average UK salary is from £30,000 with 2 – 3 years experience, rising to £40,000 – £70,000 with increased experience. Of course, there are going to be people out there with jobs higher than that, but that is the average in the UK. But according to Indeed, the average engineer in the United States makes around $85,000 per year. That’s just about £65,000 per year in the UK. So that is quite a big difference.
